The Jorge Posada Foundation - Gala 2009

This past fall, Kelli Marsh & I had the opportunity to provide photographic coverage for the Annual Jorge Posada Foundation Gala in NYC. What a thrill!!! For those of you who are not sports fans, Jorge Posada is a 15-year veteran catcher for the New York Yankees, 5-time All Star, 5-time World Champion and sure to be hall-of-famer. The star-studded event was held at the Sheraton Towers in Mid-Town NYC and was intended to raise awareness and funding for the Jorge Posada Foundation.

The purpose of The Jorge Posada Foundation is to reach out to families in need whose children are affected by Craniosynostosis and provide them with emotional support through the Foundation’s family support network. Craniosynostosis is a condition in which one or more of the fibrous sutures in an infant skull prematurely fuses. This results in restricted skull and brain growth. Because the brain cannot expand in the direction of the fused suture, it is forced to grow in the direction of the open sutures, often resulting in an abnormal head shape and facial features. It is estimated that craniosynostosis affects 1 in 2,000 live births. Given these figures, public awareness of CS is critical. Hats off to Jorge, his wife Laura and all who attended and donated their time and resources to the cause. From what we could gather, the event was a huge success.

Briana & Devin - Calabasas, Ca Wedding

Greetings Dear Friends,

As the snow gathers outside of the studio window, I look back on Brie and Devin's Wedding Day with a heightened sense of nostalgia. Tucked away in the SW portion of the San Fernando Valley, Calabasas proved an ideal setting for this unique couple and their extraordinary cast of friends and family. A million extensions of gratitude go out to Brie and Devin...the Newton and Mahoney Families and all who welcomed us with open hearts and arms. It was a joy, honor and pleasure to take part in and witness this amazing day.

...and once again, a huge thank you to my best friend and continual source of inspiration, Miss Kelli Marsh for bringing all that she did to this project.

3rd Overall - International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers!

5 of my images placed in the latest ISPWP quarterly photo contest leaving me with an OVERALL 3rd PLACE FINISH! This is an enormous honor considering the caliber of work that was submitted. Steering clear of my soapbox, I want to quickly say that this recognition is especially fulfilling for two reasons:
-First being that it is a photography award...it is based on imagery and not image. On work and not clout. Names are NOT factored into the judging, leaving the work to speak for itself.
-Second, being recognized in categories as diverse as photojournalism, pure art, details and portrait - all in the same contest - confirms that my work can not be stuffed into a box. I am not interested in trying to steer or control it. I allow it to be what it is, to flow as it should. ...as we should :)

It is a great honor have my work stand alongside such inspiring company. It is testament to the many amazing couples who motivate me to continually push forward.
