Visual Ramblings: the chronicles of tomas flint - visual explorer.

Enthusiastic observer of light, love & all things living.

Greetings beautiful blog people. Welcome to the newly renovated visual:ramblings. Here you'll find stories of love, tid-bits of wisdom and visual ramblings detailing the life and times of yours truly. The idea here is not to simply showcase my work, but to establish and maintain an interactive environment where readers and contributors become one in the same - as this space does not belong to me, but to all who breathe life into it through reading, embracing and reacting to its visual randomness. I sincerely hope that you enjoy your visit and look forward to a wonderful journey together.

blogbash is still going strong!!! whoot whoot! let's see here...what's next??

last weekend i was in new york city working with my dear friend kenny kim. kenny is such a pleasure to be around. good people. our friends that weekend were eunice and tim. tim is a west coast man at heart, but seems to have adapted well to life in the big city. eunice is as sweet as can be. her family welcomed us with open arms and made us feel at home. thank you for your kindness. it is sincerely appreciated.

on the day before the wedding, we got together in central park. the trees were blooming and the sun was beating down. the magnolia's were in bloom! i have a soft spot for magnolia trees. so beautiful but so fading. they facinate me. during that afternoon friendships were formed and good times were had. here are some of my images. swing by kenny's blog if you'd like to see more from that day...he has a full report.

greetings blogfolk and welcome to blogbash. what is blogbash?? i don't quite know but i am interested in seeing how it turns out. the idea is to blog all night...or at least to the point that i'm guaranteed at least a few hours of sleep before i head to the airport. destination: italia!

i'm a little too fired up to sleep so i thought that it would be a good idea to throw an impromptu party. i invited no one and no one came. ...and here i am. blogbash. holla

first stage...

images from my afternoon with wendy and mike. troopers. together we fought through a gloomy saturday afternoon in buffalo and came out with some great memories, connections, and images.

wendy & mike - thank you for letting me into your lives. thank you for helping to lug my gear around and for finding humor in my bad jokes. thank you for giving so much of yourselves. i look forward to seeing you again soon.

best,

The sun'll make you silly, boy.

Yesterday:
Blue skies sprinkled with dense clouds and the kind of sunshine that rushes new life into the bodies of those feeling weighed down by the drain of old man winter. In a word, revitalizing. Dare I say it?? Has Spring in fact, sprung?? Perhaps I shouldn't be so bold...don't want the blame for a Mid-May "return to February".

Instead of making outlandish claims, I want to share with you all a bit of madness from my world. The following are low-budget videos of songs that were inspired by the sunlight that got us going that day. Ignore the acoustics, bad light, lousy singing and everything else that just isn't right about them. Savor the theme...Snow is Gone.

One of my favorite lyrics of all time:
"I'm singing for the love of it, have mercy on the man who sings to be adored"
-Josh Ritter

...here's one more for kicks:

coochie coochie coochie coo!!!

somebody's getting married

Greetings Friends,

Nostalgia. It's finally starting to sink in. My little sister - my dear baby sister - is getting married. This can't be! Is it possible that the same little tomboy with scraped knees and over-sized glasses has grown into a woman...a woman with all of the vivacity, wit and beauty that is woman??

It is possible.

And I'm freekin pumped for her!!!

Ali has always been my best friend, biggest fan and harshest critic. I can't image me being me without Ali being in there somewhere. I am so proud of who she is.
She is:
patient.
sincere.
genuine.
honest.
articulate.
strong.
kind.
beautiful.
(insert your favorite Ali adjective here).
...

In Jay she has found a good man. A rock. If there is one thing that I know about Jay, it's that he really does adore my sister. In all the time that I have spent with him, he has never been anything short of a prince.

These are two lucky people to have found one-another. I am one lucky guy to bear witness to it all. There is no doubt that the universe is unfolding exactly as it should. Smiles and sunshine for many years to come.

For their Save the Date cards we went with the high contrast b&w photo booth-sign theme. You have to image this as a thin strip with a front and back. I laid them out side by side for the sake of the web and dropped a texture for the 'awww' factor:
Photobucket
...and yes, they are getting married at a place called Beaver Hollow. The name, fortunately, does absolutely no justice to the site...it really is stunning.

Have a great time on your pre-wedding trip to Italy guys. The stress will be here waiting when you get back. ;-)

next installment coming soon.
much love dear friends,
t
